pictures
One of the pictures is of the main bridge that was destroyed from a heavy rainy season in 2007. You can see the cement pylons sticking out of the water. It was a huge bridge and a connection between North Belize and Toledo District. Seeing it destroyed was a reminded of how powerful torrential rain is and how dangerous it is to the people who live in the villages along the banks. There is a temporary bridge that people now use to get across. The bridge was made by the US and seems to be sufficient. The other photo is the market where we bought our vegetables. Adam was getting some good shots when a man began to curse at him and demanded that he stop taking photos. It was an over reaction for sure, but Adam is used to it and he respected the man and put away his camera. (just noticed the bridge photo did not make it on the blog, will try again later. I have had a very bad day of trying to connect via the satellite)
